Gluesenkamp Perez Announces 2024 Congressional Art Competition Winner
Today, Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (WA-03) announced Sydney Lee Chrisopulos of Columbia River High School as the winner of the 2024 Congressional Art Competition.
Sydney’s charcoal piece, “Bonds Between Generations,” will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year and on the Congressional Art Competition website.
In Second Place was Elizabeth Ruff with “Reinvention” in charcoal and pastel. Krysta Mattus took home Third Place with “Waiting for the Call” in charcoal. Both students attend Kelso High School.
The artwork was selected by a panel of Southwest Washington arts leaders from the Columbia Arts Network.
“Southwest Washington is home to some incredibly talented young artists, and I was impressed by each piece I got to see. ‘Bonds Between Generations,’ manages to capture the strong connection between each of us, in a seemingly simple moment,” said Rep. Gluesenkamp Perez. “I want to congratulate Sydney for her beautiful artwork, along with every other artist who submitted a piece.”
