Gluesenkamp Perez Statement Ahead of the State of the Union Address
Today, Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (WA-03) released the following statement ahead of the State of the Union address:
“In a divided Congress, getting anything done for the American people requires lawmakers who are eager to reach across the aisle and focus on the issues that matter most to their constituents.
Back home in Southwest Washington, folks are facing a worsening fentanyl epidemic, seeing democracies under threat across the globe, and experiencing rising costs for groceries, childcare, housing, and more. We need to act now – and I’ve introduced the only bipartisan bill in the House to secure our border and help our allies defend themselves.
During tonight’s State of the Union address, I hope we’ll hear a unifying message about putting patriotism above partisanship to deliver for everyday Americans. It’s not only critical to tackling these crises, but also to working on priorities like supporting small business owners and producers, reducing burdens for folks in rural communities, and revitalizing our trades workforce by investing in our infrastructure.”
Rep. Gluesenkamp Perez will be bringing Pacific County shellfish grower Marilyn Sheldon as her guest for the address. Last year, she brought Kalama High School Career and Technical Education Director Cory Torppa.
