Today, Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (WA-03) released the below statement regarding her vote for a continuing resolution to avert a government shutdown:

“With another government funding deadline looming, today I voted to prevent a shutdown and protect working families who would’ve faced catastrophic impacts from a shutdown during the holiday season.

This bill isn’t a perfect solution, but I hope Congress will make full use of this additional time to reach a bipartisan consensus on government funding. We also must use this time to stand in defense of democracy and ensure our allies are capable of defending themselves by passing urgently needed assistance for Ukraine and Israel.

I continue to stand ready and eager to work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to pass full-year, bipartisan funding bills that put Southwest Washington first.”
