WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (WA-03) announced Alyssa Wong, Ai Lou, and Liya Zhao of Camas High School as the winners of the 2025 Congressional App Challenge.

For the challenge, Wong, Lou, and Zhao, all sophomores at Camas High School, created “CanScreen,” an app that helps clear up confusing cancer-screening guidelines by presenting them in an interactive, approachable way and providing users with screening recommendations tailored to their age and biological sex, and simplifying access to essential health information. The app has not been launched for general use.

“CanScreen” has other functions beyond cancer screening, including educational resources, quizzes, and tools to improve the health of the user.

Wong, Lou, and Zhao’s mission is to raise awareness for cancer screening in young adults and ensure people of all ages keep up with their recommended screenings.

“I want to congratulate these three bright students for their work developing ‘CanScreen’,” said Rep. Gluesenkamp Perez. “Their work shows real compassion, creativity, and technical skill, harnessing technology not for entertainment, but to help people navigate health decisions that affect lives.”

This submission was selected by a panel of local judges and will be eligible to be displayed in the U.S. Capitol as well as featured on CongressionalAppChallenge.us and  House.gov.
