Bigleaf Maple trees are found all over the Pacific Northwest, and this contest encourages residents of Washington’s Third District to get outside, appreciate our woods, and learn about the challenges facing the Bigleaf Maple.
The biggest leaf will be hung up for visitors to see in our office and showcased online. Submissions are now closed, and this page will be updated when the 2025 contest opens.
Entry Guidelines
- Find a leaf from a Bigleaf Maple tree – the biggest one you can find! This is what a leaf from a Bigleaf Maple looks like, and it should be from Washington’s Third District.
- Take a picture of your leaf, ensuring it’s well-lit, on a flat surface, and contains a ruler or tape measure for scale.
- Email your picture to WA03MGOffice@mail.house.gov with “Leaf Contest – LAST NAME” as the subject line. Include your full name, phone number, and city/town in the body of the email.
- Be sure to hold on to your leaf (and keep it pressed and flat). Our team will reach out to whoever found the biggest leaf (measured at the widest point, not including the stem) and coordinate a time to pick it up in November.
By submitting a leaf photo, you are giving the office of Rep. Gluesenkamp Perez permission to use the photo in future communications and to put the winning leaf on display.
