Gluesenkamp Perez Named to House Appropriations Subcommittees
Today, Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (WA-03) announced her subcommittee assignments for the House Committee on Appropriations.
In the 119th Congress, Rep. Gluesenkamp Perez will serve on the Subcommittee on Financial Services and General Government and the Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies.
The House Committee on Appropriations determines and oversees discretionary spending and is responsible for funding the federal government’s vital activities and investments to grow the economy, keep the country secure, and build for the future.
“Living in rural Southwest Washington, I know we have a clear idea of what is worth having in life: durable infrastructure, a relationship with our woods, and a level playing field for small businesses, farmers, and childcare providers. On my House Appropriations Subcommittees, I’m excited to orient federal priorities to be more in line with Southwest Washington values, fight for the nuts and bolts of good governance, and work toward an economy where one job can support a family,” said Rep. Gluesenkamp Perez. “I operated an auto repair and machine shop before coming to Congress, and we bought our building with the help of an SBA loan, but it wasn’t easy. I look forward to cutting burdensome red tape and fighting to make it easier for small business owners to access these critical resources. I’ll also continue working to protect our right to repair our own stuff where, when, and how we’d like – from vehicles, to ag equipment, to electronics. It’ll bring costs down and protect our American ethos that we can be skilled stewards of our belongings.”
In her first term, Rep. Gluesenkamp Perez worked to bring home more than $2.4 billion of federal funding for vital community investments in every county across Southwest Washington. Of that, she secured $21.4 million in FY24 Community Project funding, which was greater than 91 percent of her freshman House Democratic colleagues.
Last year, Rep. Gluesenkamp Perez was recognized by the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget for her efforts to put our nation on a better fiscal trajectory.
