Today, Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (WA-03) released the following statement after solving more than 1,400 constituent cases and breaking the two-million-dollar mark of funds recovered for residents owed to them by federal agencies:

“I came to Congress with the mission of using every tool at my disposal to get results for Southwest Washington – and a core part of that is the direct support my bipartisan team provides to constituents each day.

Despite my work to introduce and pass bipartisan legislation to strengthen forest management, cut wasteful government spending, and support local small businesses, common-sense legislation can move slowly in today’s divided Congress. It’s why it’s so important that I’m able to cut through red tape for folks when they’re getting the runaround from a federal agency like the IRS, VA, or Social Security Administration.

We’ve returned sums in the tens of thousands of dollars that were owed to families, seniors, veterans, and businesses in communities across our District. They’re dollars that can make a meaningful difference in meeting the bills at the end of the month or keeping the fridge stocked.

My team has now brought more than $2 million back home to more than 1,400 constituents, whether it’s tax refunds, veterans benefits owed to local heroes, or hard-earned Social Security checks.

I take this part of my job extremely seriously, and I’ll continue fighting to get dollars back in the hands of community members across Southwest Washington. My team is eager to advocate for you – so please feel welcome to reach out if you need assistance with a federal agency.”

Rep. Gluesenkamp Perez has closed 1,437 cases and recovered a total of $2,085,146 for Southwest Washington residents – including $852,495 from the IRS, $591,886 from the Social Security Administration, and $182,212 from the VA. The Congresswoman has also responded to 105,382 letters, calls, and emails from constituents.

In March, Rep. Gluesenkamp Perez reached the one-million-dollar mark recovered for constituents.
