Rep. Gluesenkamp Perez visits the Rainier Senior Center in May.
VANCOUVER, WA – Today, Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (WA-03) released the following statement after breaking the ten-million-dollar mark of funds recovered for residents owed to them by federal agencies and solving 2,800 constituent cases:
“When federal agencies aren’t being as responsive as they should be, or when our federal bureaucracy is just too difficult to navigate, it’s critical that you have someone in your corner.
It’s why I’ve made it my priority from Day One to be as accessible and useful to you as possible – and to have a bipartisan team that works hard to untangle complex problems, fiercely delivers results, and brings services to rural and urban communities across our district.
I’m excited to say that we’ve now returned more than $10 million to more than 2,800 constituents, owed to you by federal agencies like the VA, IRS, and Social Security Administration.
This milestone is possible because of your willingness to reach out to us when you have a problem with a federal agency. Even if something seems like a small issue, when you let us know about it, it helps us identify systemic problems your neighbor might also be experiencing. It’s not only the dollars and cents of missing or delayed social security checks and tax returns – it’s also veterans’ healthcare, passport applications, and military records in limbo.
Please continue to tell your friends, family, and coworkers to give me a call when they’re having an issue with a federal agency – and I’ll keep fighting for a government that works effectively for you.”
Rep. Gluesenkamp Perez has closed 2,800 cases and recovered a total of $10,104,871 for Southwest Washington residents – including $4,216,401 from the IRS, $2,224,749 from the Social Security Administration, and $545,806 from the VA. The Congresswoman has also responded to 241,595 letters, calls, and emails from constituents.
Rep. Gluesenkamp Perez has held 24 sets of mobile office hours, across every county in Washington’s Third District.
Last year, Rep. Gluesenkamp Perez reached the five-million-dollar mark recovered for constituents.
Success stories of constituents the Congresswoman has assisted can be found here.
Those in need of assistance with a federal agency can reach out online, by phone at (360) 695-6292, or in person at the Congresswoman’s Vancouver or Kelso offices.

Statement on DHS Reconciliation Funding
This week, I voted against a partisan reconciliation package that would have pre-funded ICE and DHS for the next 3 years. It’s completely fiscally irresponsible to use reconciliation to write a nearly $70 billion check to an agency with little oversight or accountability to taxpayers. Any DHS funding needs to go through the proper appropriations […]

Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez Statement on the Iran War Powers Resolution
WASHINGTON, DC – Last night, I voted to end the disastrous war in Iran. When I talk to members of my community, what I hear is that they need gas prices to come down, they need to afford to put food on the table. They don’t need us to continue a multi-billion dollar war that […]
