Today, Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (WA-03) released the following statement after solving more than 1,800 constituent cases and breaking the five-million-dollar mark of funds recovered for residents owed to them by federal agencies:

“I came to Congress on a mission to get results for Southwest Washington. Two years in, I’m excited to say we’ve now returned more than $5 million to constituents owed to them by federal agencies.

It’s missing or delayed tax returns, passport applications, and Social Security checks – and these victories can make all the difference for families being able to pay the bills or veterans being able to access the care they deserve.

Hitting this milestone is no small feat – and it’s reflective of your willingness to let me know when our federal government isn’t being as responsive or helpful as it should be. Being able to fight for you is incredibly meaningful, so please send your friends, family, and neighbors our way when you hear them talking about how they aren’t getting a fair shake.

Having operated an auto repair and machine shop before coming to Congress, I know how it feels to be up against bureaucratic red tape and a system that isn’t as responsive as it should be. I look forward to spending this next Congress fighting for a more accountable and transparent government that works for Southwest Washingtonians.”

Rep. Gluesenkamp Perez has closed 1,807 cases and recovered a total of $5,537,210 for Southwest Washington residents – including $2,709,182 from the IRS, $1,041,928 from the Social Security Administration, and $483,610 from the VA. The Congresswoman has also responded to 126,700 letters, calls, and emails from constituents.

In November, Rep. Gluesenkamp Perez reached the three-million-dollar mark recovered for constituents.
